Set your goals and expectations for the upcoming year. Establish your targets for gross income, number of transactions, number of listings taken and sold, and number of buyer sales. Once you establish your goals, keep them in front of you at all times. Carry them with you. Put them on your screen saver. Write them on index cards and stick them on your sun visor, bathroom mirror, TV set, or anywhere else they'll catch your eye repeatedly throughout the day.

No, it's important that you be committed to your goals. It's important that your actions correlate to whatever you're committed to. But if you have a goal and it's starting not to turn you on, and your actions show you've lost your commitment to it, it's OK to change it and get committed to something else. 19. Craig is the most well-organized person I know. Keeping goal categories is one of the areas that changed my life as a businessperson. Back in 1979, I attended a Lewis R. Timberlake seminar on goal setting. Timberlake advocated using goal categories, and before long I was scratching out notes on what should be the core goal categories for a highly successful real estate agent. These categories were originally tried and tested by none other than myself. Now, over the course of my career, they have withstood my personal scrutiny as well as the original doubts and skepticism of thousands of real estate agents who have consulted with me. While goal categories are magical and can bring amazing focus to your business life, they shouldn't be compartmentalized to just your business life. I encourage you to explore taking advantage of the power of goal categories in your personal life as well.
Chances are good that you've attended a time management seminar before or you've read a book or listened to a tape on the topic. There's also a good chance that after those things you weren't much more empowered or effective with your time than before. That's because, in my opinion, time management is really an attitude issue, not a technique issue. By attitude, I'm talking about being truly focused on and enthusiastic about your goals. You see, when you are really passionate about your goals, your vision, getting to your Next Level, etc., you'll automatically do the most productive things to achieve those goals.
Despite such impressive examples, it would be unwise to become lured by the work-part-time-and-make-big-money pitch. It just doesn't usually work out that way. As should be expected, those who work an abbreviated schedule earn substantially less, on the average, than their full-time counterparts. Of course, that is fine if it fits your monetary and personal goals.

As we've discussed, models are very important tools to help us achieve our goals. To put it plainly models matter, and the right models matter most. If you don't know where you're going, I guess any model will do. But if you're trying to become your very best and achieve the most you possibly can, you'll need Big Models to match your Big Goals. Ber become the driving force for your business plan will always hold you back. Can you see that now Goals are an end point, a finish line. And what do we do when we cross the finish line We stop. We express our relief at having made it or cry for joy, and we stop. The thing you must be careful about with goal setting is to avoid letting your goals become ceilings to your future achievement. Low (even moderate) goals are limiting. At best, we stop for a while, realize we still have gas in the tank, and go about setting new goals to motivate us to keep moving and growing. Time is lost and opportunities are missed. A much better path is to set goals that place the finish line far, far away and then allow ourselves to pause to catch our breath or celebrate our progress along the way. Big Goals keep our feet moving and lead us closer to our highest possible potential.
